Bend Dance is all about Salsa and West Coast Swing dancing in Bend, Oregon. There are weekly classes and social dancing for experienced dancers or total newbies. You don't need a partner and beginning classes are truly beginning. Come dance or just check it out and meet fun people! First Friday Salsa Night!
On Sept 3 the Salsa dance during Art Walk will be at Azura' Studio at 856 NW Bond St. Beginning Casino Rueda class at 9:00, Salsa dancing at 9:30. $5 cover and no partner needed. Rueda is a fun, Cuban group dance like Salsa square dancing...but much cooler!

Bridgetown Swing!
Oregon's biggest Swing event is almost here and the Bend crew is heading to Portland in full force to dance. September 17-19 at The Doubletree Hotel by Lloyd Center. Tickets are $110 till Aug 31 and there are still a couple of seats left at the second Bend table. Get your tickets from Victoria. A workshop pass is $40 and can be purchased at the door. West Coast Swing is a popular partner dance done to club music.
Not east coast swing (big band) or country swing, this version
of Swing is sexy, communicative and playful, with a focus on
connection with your partner and interpreting the music. This
video is lead & follow, not choreographed, which is why it's cool.

There are Beg-Int Classes and Technique Classes at Victoria's Studio
on Tuesdays & Thursdays, starting the first week of each month.

3rd Saturday Swing dance every month at Azura' Studio. Beginning
class at 7:30 ($10 includes dance), dancing at 8:30 ($5).




Salsa is a fast, fun, sexy Latin dance with Cuban roots and tons of
flair. Like all social partner dances, it's lead and follow. Classes
in Bend are LA style On 1, but we appreciate On 2, Mambo, Casino, and

Wednesdays are Salsa Night at SEVEN Nightclub in downtown Bend, with
dancing at 9:30 and new Classes starting the first week every month.
Also bottomless Wine Night! Buy 1 glass of wine and it'll never be empty!

First Friday Salsa Night during Art Walk! Top Leaf Mate Bar in the alley by
Thump & The Wine Shop. Beginning class at 8pm, dancing 8:30-11pm, $5.

Dancing and Life

Why do we dance? The simple answer is, "To have fun!" But there's often so much more to it. We want to learn something new, stretch ourseslves, meet people in a safe environment. We want to connect with people and make friends, and that puts some people in a vulnerable place. Which is why it's necessary to treat each other with respect and grace. Some people are great dancers; others are not. As long as we remember that we're

here to just be human, not to audition for Dancing with the Stars, it doesn't matter if our dance skills are fabulous or terrible. It's about learning something, being ourselves, or perhaps re-discovering ourselves so we can share with each other. So if you've been dancing for a while, keep in mind that for the new people it's challenging to learn something new and that's it's not your job to teach your partner the steps or proper technique. Maybe your partner

just wants to feel like they can be successful at the little bit they know. Maybe their mind isn't on dance at all and it's more important just to remember your name and what you just said you did for a living. If you're new to dancing or classes or Bend, welcome! Know that this is a good place to hang out and expand your boundaries a bit. A dance is like a relationship... it's about connection, communication and play. So join a class or grab someone for a dance and we'll see you on the dance floor!



Who are the People of Bend Dance?

Anyone! You may find a school teacher, a mortgage broker, a mother, an accountant, a psychology student, a construction worker, a mechanic, a shop owner or an interior designer. You also may find 19 year old students dancing with someone their parents' age...or their grandparents' age!

Dancing is for anyone who wants to learn something new, challenge themselves and meet people in a safe social environment. You could be from Alabama or Italy, speak any language, be any shape, and have any hair color...or no hair. Doesn't matter. You just have to be nice and be willing to

work a bit. Some people want to compete and set goals, some just want to have fun. If your only goal is to make someone smile during a dance, that's lovely. Anyone can ask anyone else to dance with the expectation that they'll be taken care of on the dance floor in Bend. See you out dancing!
